Brief Bio
He is a holder of a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Cambridge. His doctoral research focused on how kinship sustains the continued existence of the Dadaab camps in northeastern Kenya.
He has published widely on refugee and forced migration issues. Dr. Ikanda is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board, AFRICA/IAI (SOAS), Sapiens of the Wenner-Gren Foundation, and MILA (University of Nairobi). He also serves as a peer reviewer for various journals, including African Affairs, AFRICA/IAI, Ethnos, and Journal of Anthropology.
